Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Agriculture Emergency Plan

Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Agriculture Emergency Plan

(2024 - 2025)

Upland Agricultural Consulting was contracted by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) to develop an Agriculture Emergency Plan and accompanying disaster resilience education materials for the region. The region’s challenging terrain, remote farming communities, and increasing exposure to wildfires, floods, and debris flows presented unique emergency planning needs. The project involved stakeholder engagement, including up to 20 interviews and a series of in-person and virtual workshops across Squamish, Pemberton, and Lillooet. Educational materials include printable guides, factsheets, worksheets, infographics, and short videos, tailored to the local agricultural context. The Plan included practical tools, jurisdictional clarity, and a detailed implementation strategy, supported by regionally grounded feedback gathered through engagement. The final deliverables aimed to strengthen emergency preparedness and build long-term resilience for producers across the SLRD’s Electoral Areas.

The SLRD has created a new website for the Plan and it includes a link to all of the resources and the video that Upland created
