District of Saanich Agriculture and Food Security Plan

(2016-2018)

An Agriculture and Food Security Plan has been developed by Upland Agricultural Consulting for the District of Saanich, the largest community on the Saanich Peninsula. The District has identified the local food system as a key priority stemming from their Official Community Plan. Engagement includes open houses, stakeholder sessions, one-on-one meetings, an online and hard copy survey, open houses, and regular meetings with the project Task Force. This project allowed for a deeper understanding of land use access issues facing growers on Southern Vancouver Island.
