Emielia joined Upland in 2023 with an interest in food security and food systems. Her experience is rooted in corporate sustainability and the analysis of climate change indicators.
Emielia has worked in BC’s social finance sector and has contributed to social impact performance work within Canada’s mining industry. In 2020, she assisted in the deployment of the federal government’s Investment Readiness Program, which aimed to support Canadian social enterprises. She then moved into sustainability reporting and advisory work within mining, which gave her exposure to labour laws, Indigenous rights and title, and social commitments relevant to communities affected by resource extraction. In 2022, Emielia completed a BComm (Honours) in Operations and Logistics from the Sauder School of Business at UBC. After graduating, Emielia worked in the EU carbon market gaining experience with carbon inventory and data management for a nature-based carbon solutions firm based in Germany. During her time abroad, she became involved with a farm-to-table restaurant, which sparked her interest in food security and urban food systems.
