We firmly believe that the projects we embark upon will lead our society to a more just and sustainable future.

Even though we are a small company, one of our first acts was to develop a sustainability policy that embraces environmental, social, and economic values. Some of our practices include:

 

• Environmental: We are committed to sharing our environmental ethic with younger generations. For example, we recently assisted Sechelt’s École du Pacifique elementary school with a successful grant application to the Farm 2 School program. As a result, we will be helping to install a new greenhouse and irrigation system for the school’s growing garden this summer.

 

• Social: We give back with our time to extend our core values into our community. For example, Ione has served a term as a member of the Board for Community Futures Sunshine Coast. Peter has served on the Sunshine Coast Regional Districts’s Agricultural Advisory Committee, and more recently on the advisory board for Salish Soils.

 

• Economic: Our commitment to our mission also means re-investment. For example, this past year, Upland become one of the founding members of the Coast Investment Co-operative. We are also proud members of the Sechelt Chamber of Commerce and the Gibsons Public Market Society, and we are corporate sponsors of many local and provincial events.
