Ione Smith, MSc, PAg (Director)
Ione is an agricultural planner and climate change adaptation expert who specializes in innovative sustainability policy and research. Ione is often brought in to manage stakeholder engagement and technical aspects of land use planning for multi-faceted projects. With over 14 years’ experience, Ione has the competence to manage complex deliverables that result in clear actions. She is able to combine the research abilities of a skilled scientist with the knack of a communications specialist, ensuring projects are successful and effective.
Ione is a Professional Agrologist (PAg) with a MSc in Resource Management and Environmental Studies from the University of British Columbia and a BSc(Env) from the University of Guelph. She is a Board Member of Community Futures Sunshine Coast and at Steering Committee Member of the BC Food Systems Network.
Peter Doig, MSc, PAg (Director)
Peter is a biochemist with 16 years of combined experience in industrial biochemistry/microbiology, crop production and the development of bio-products and bioprocess technology for horticulture, composting, wastewater treatment and nutrient reclamation and reuse. He specializes in converting conventional agricultural systems over to certified organic practices without compromising product yield or quality. Peter has worked in academic, government, and private sector settings and his projects have received several NRC-IRAP grants, BC Innovation Council awards, CRA’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development Tax Credits as well the National Award for Excellence in Innovation by CIPA. Peter is a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) and has extensive hands-on, business development and management experience in commercial composting and organic greenhouse and field-based vegetable and fruit production.
